✦ Our Process

Step-by-step

Trevisan Alimentos is a century-old company with over 100 years of tradition in the development of agribusiness in rice, soybean and wheat crops. With a focus on rice processing, the company has expanded its production capacity to reach new markets and meet exports to the Asian and African continents as well as to South and North America. Concerned with social responsibility, the company considers the sustainability and quality of its products to be a key factor, seeking certifications and improvements in the production process to produce healthy and safe foods.

Pioneering spirit

Giovanni Trevisan, also known as João Trevisan, opened his first grocery store in 1910 in Ribeirão, a district of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Shortly after, he established a second branch in Arroio do Só, also in Santa Maria, located next to the VFRGS railway tracks. As his sons came of age, the family business, João Trevisan & Filhos, expanded. In 1924, they opened a new branch in Cachoeira do Sul, at Rua Júlio de Castilhos, 69—now known as the Bartz house—a strategically chosen location near the railroad.

Expansion

In 1931, following the founder's passing, the company was renamed Vva. João Trevisan & Filhos. In 1938, the company built its first rice mill in the Arroio do Só district of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, making it one of the region's pioneers at the time. In 1941, in Cachoeira do Sul, capitalizing on the company's involvement in wheat trading, a wheat mill was constructed, producing Tulipa and Donangela brand flours. Later, in 1956, recognizing the municipality's growing rice production potential, a rice mill was established at the same site as the wheat mill. Today, this location at Av. Brasil 791 also serves as the company's headquarters.

Modernization

In 1990, the rice complex, including silos, mills, dryers, warehouses, and packaging facilities, was relocated to the city's Industrial District at Rua Miguel Loreto Sobrinho, 661, to support increased production capacity. In recent years, Trevisan Alimentos has made significant investments in technology and production expansion, redesigning its facilities into a more modern and efficient operation that meets strict food safety and quality standards.
